In 1988, Charles Pierce lost his battle with Lung Cancer. His son Tom, along with his wife Patty, decided that they should honor him by creating a foundation in his name. This foundation would raise funds where all profits would be donated to Cancer survivors and research.
The Pierce Family Foundation was formed.
In 2004, The Pierce Family Foundation held their first fundraiser, a golf outing at Prairie Bluff Golf Club in Romeoville, IL. This event was so successful, it became an annual event!
After the golf outing, the interest in The Pierce Family Foundation and what they stood for was amazing! The enthusiasm generated led to several fundraising events sponsored by PFF throughout the year—and that continues today..
In November 2024, Camp One Step honored The Pierce Family Foundation with the Richard Schwebel Family Award in recognition of our years of support. This award celebrates the legacy of Richard Schwebel and his family foundation’s enduring commitment to philanthropy and Camp One Step.
