A decade ago, I became involved in a neighborhood organization that put on several events per year with a small focus on giving back to our community. Peggy Pierce was also involved in those events, and our enthusiasm for planning created an almost immediate connection. Planning and organizing gatherings for family and friends has always been a passion of mine. When my husband Tim and I started our family, we connected with Peggy Pierce again at Successful Starts early childhood care. She introduced us to this wonderful foundation!
My first event with PFF was a wine tasting. Camp One Step was presented with a check from PFF for that year's donation, and they showed a video with testimonials and stories from campers. It was an ah-ha moment. I knew I wanted to be involved but did not know quite yet how I would contribute. Once I committed to PFF, I joined the 2022 Gala planning committee. The Gala in 2022 was not a record breaker, and thus began the motivation to make it the event we knew it could be! Anyone who attended the Gala in March 2023 knows what that now looks like and I could not be more excited to continue growing that event in 2024.
I am a mother of two young boys, Human Resource and Operations manager for my family's businesses, neighborhood association president, and elementary school parent's association volunteer...to name a few. After several experiences with the PFF fundraising events, I told my husband I was joining The Pierce Family Foundation Executive board; he looked at me as if I had a 3rd eye. Juggling multiple commitments is challenging, but I cannot imagine anything more challenging than having a child battling cancer. We have been blessed with two healthy kids, and I cannot think of a better way to spend my time than fundraising for causes supporting families who do not have the luxury of a healthy child.
Since joining the Executive Board of the Pierce Family Foundation, I have been learning more about all the events and efforts to give back. I am excited to bring new ideas while helping support many long-standing traditions. I am honored to be part of this family foundation and look forward to the day we can write that 6-figure check to Camp One Step!
